5G adoption is gaining traction in an increasingly digital world, and there’s no doubting the importance of fast connectivity, especially for business in a work-from-home environment.

With this in mind, ITWeb will be hosting its virtual 5G Summit 2021 on 17 and 18 March.

The event will explore the opportunities and challenges of 5G adoption on the continent. The keynote addresses will be delivered by Professor H Sama Nwana who oversaw the UK’s spectrum policy as group director of The Office of Communications (Ofcom), and Charles C Byers, associate CTO at the Industrial Internet Consortium.

Day one will also feature MTN South Africa’s chief technology and information officer Giovanni Chiarelli as he takes the audience through the telco’s 5G roll-out strategy, which it launched in June. One of the innovations behind this roll-out is Dynamic Spectrum Sharing (allowing network operators to deliver 4G and 5G within the same spectrum) and has been used to provide connectivity in the wait for dedicated 5G spectrum.

There will also be a panel discussion on the business case for 5G. The panel will examine how operators’ roll-out plans have been affected by COVID-19, and ask when we’re likely to see full end-to-end infrastructure deployments.

On day two, Zoran Lazarevic, CTO of Ericsson MEA, will share predictions on what the next five years hold for 5G.

All the events’ sessions will be available on-demand. Register to attend here. The early bird special closes on 12 February.
