Fujitsu inks Australian utility deal

Western Australian energy utility Horizon Power has awarded Fujitsu Australia a multimillion-dollar contract to manage its ICT services and infrastructure, reports ZDnet.

The managed services contract includes the management of IT infrastructure, including the provision of service desk functions, asset and configuration management, servers, storage and databases.

It will also provide the utility with support for its network, e-mail, VOIP telephone system, Citrix applications and end user devices.

Horizon Power is underway with a $19.1 million programme to overhaul its IT operations, according to ITWire.

The utility has offloaded most of its IT support functions to Fujitsu as part of a three-year managed services contract.

Tech World reveals Fujitsu Australia CEO, Mike Foster, says the contract will enable Horizon Power to deliver vital services across its widespread coverage area.

“We will be able to leverage our energy sector expertise as well as our significant investments in the local region to deliver a seamless infrastructure support service,” explains Foster.
