SentinelOne has introduced its endpoint protection, detection and response capabilities to South African cyber security professionals during a webinar staged in partnership with ITWeb.

The Silicon Valley-based company has developed Singularity, an AI-powered extended detection and response (XDR) platform. XDR replaces siloed security and helps organisations address cybersecurity challenges from a unified standpoint.

Milad Aslaner, senior director, Cyber Defense Strategy & Public Affairs at SentinelOne, said the company has over 5 500 customers worldwide and recently completed the highest-valued IPO in cyber security history, raising around $1.2 billion at an implied valuation of $8.9 billion.

“At its core, SentinelOne is about the customers. Many security teams confirm that their alert volume has doubled in the last five years. But organisations can't continue to hire more, and there is a severe skill gap. We have reached a point where most organisations cannot handle the volume of alerts. As a result, SOC analysts are developing alert fatigue that can lead to making mistakes. Security automation can help to reduce the alert volume and help SOC teams be more effective. By creating the Singularity platform, an autonomous real-time cybersecurity platform that improves the efficiency of the SOC teams, SentinelOne is achieving widespread analyst recognition and we are growing our customer base rapidly,” Aslaner said.

In the Gartner 2021 magic quadrant for Endpoint Protection Platforms, SentinelOne has been recognised as a market leader, and in Gartner Critical Capabilities Report SentinelOne received highest scores for Lean Forward, Blended Approach and Prevention Focused organisations. SentinelOne is also the highest rated EDR vendor in the Gartner Peer Insights Voice of the Customer report.

In MITRE Engenuity ATT&CK evaluations, in which a known APT group is emulated and EDR solutions are evaluated for their performance under attack in a real world situation, SentinelOne excels across all evaluated areas, with 100% visibility, zero missed detections, and zero configuration changes.

“As a SOC analyst you need as much information as possible to understand where, when, how and why an attack happened. We had 100% visibility across all activities in the MITRE ATT&CK evaluations,” Aslaner said.

SentinelOne’s Singularity solution has also been recognised by Forrester as a ‘strong performer’; by Total Economic Impact as delivering a 353% return on investment; by KuppingerCole analysts as an EPDR innovator; and by SE Labs Awards as the Best New Endpoint security solution in 2020.

In addition, SentinelOne continues to invest in building a partner ecosystem. “Our partner ecosystem is our backbone," Aslaner added. "We are growing our partner ecosystems with system integrators, managed security providers (MSPs), incident response partners, cyber risk partners, and individual consultants, and expanding this ecosystem into South Africa.”
